What We Provide
Poetic Assassins of Sai Werd Ink provides a hard to find mix of art and academia. Besides being award winning performers the Poetic Assassins are both scholars and have lectured and run workshops focused on Social Justice in high schools, community organizations,as well as universities and colleges. The following is a list of workshops (discussions) and lectures available:
Racism and Privilege: Re-Understanding Race in America
- Examines the traditional mainstream understanding of race and attempts to move beyond this narrow definition in order to move closer to an equitable future. How does Obama's election offer an understanding of race in America? We also wrestle with how race and class play off one another in order to create and maintain the status quo throughout history and into the current day.
Gender and Sexuality: Confronting Hetero-normative Society
- Examines how gender is more than simply biological sex and how this can help us understand sexuality and orientation. We look at misogyny and patriarchy and attempt to unravel how these complex issues have helped to shape our norms.
Hip Hop: A History of Resistance
- Hip Hop is often seen as simply a music genre, but it is actually much more. This discussion examines the elements of Hip Hop and looks at how the origins of Hip Hop come from a resistance to oppression. We also examine the state of Hip Hop today and the phenomenon of Hip Pop.
Eliminating Oppression One Ink Shell at a Time: Art to Action
- This workshop focuses on the ability of art, specifically spoken word, to create change. In this workshop we focus on the actual act of writing and participants leave with a piece that aims to empower, with the ultimate goal being a continuation of speaking truth to power.

Sai Werd Ink and Poetic Assassins believe in our message and the ability of that message to spark positive change. Due to this belief we do all we can in order to work with those that wish to book Poetic Assassins. We truly keep the message above the money. With that being said we care deeply about our art and put great time and energy into making it as entertaining, inspirational, dynamic, and thought provoking as possible. We believe we have developed a quality product accessible at very reasonable costs (two poets for the normal rates of one). The following is how we breakdown our packages based on past bookings- these are templates and can be adapted to meet the booking organizations needs and budget.
*Package one- workshop (60-120 minutes) and a 75-90 minute performance including a rhyme and reason session** =1700-2000 depending on the length of workshop and performance.
Package two- workshop (45-75 minutes) a 45-60 minute performance including rhyme and reason = 1400-1600 depending on length.
Package three- workshop (30-60 min) 30-45 minute performance= 1250
Performance Rate Without Workshop=
$1500= 60 minutes
$1250=45 minutes
$750= 30 minutes
$650= (Feature) 20 minutes

** Rhyme and Reason is a interactive Q&A Session where the audience gets a chance to dialogue with the artists. It provides an opportunity for the audience to get an insight into the motivations and goals of the artists in a very honest, and real way. It has proven to be one of the most popular and appreciated aspects of our performances.
